Warning Signs

Even though sudden cardiac arrest is often unexpected, there are some symptoms that might be presented before the event and can help you identify and prepare for it.

Some of the warning signs that can be shown are fainting or seizures while/ after any athletic activity or startlement, irregular heartbeats, dizziness/ lightheadedness, chest pain, or shortness of breath during exercise.

A lot of these signs can be presented up to two weeks before the sudden cardiac arrest and they often go unrecognized. Actually, a study noted that 72% of students who suffered an SCA were reported by their parents to have at least one symptom before the event, they just didn’t recognize it as life-threatening.
